Hello everyone, there's always something new to discover in amateur radio: after 23 years of hamming, I have today completed my first ever moonbounce QSO! This was quite exciting for me, and I'd like to express my thanks to DF1OI, DJ9YW and DL3OCH who raised my interest in EME and really helped getting me on the air. I currently work at the German research station "Neumayer III" in Antarctica (DXCC: CE9), and I'll be here for a few more months. The 23cm EME station will be set up at least until October 2009, maybe longer. If anyone would like to arrange a sked, please contact me by e-mail. My grid locator is IB59uh, and I run about 500 Watts to a single 67 element yagi. Today, I was able to copy DJ9YW's JT65c signal with -18 dB at peaks. There will be a good window on the moon this weekend at my location, and I'll have a bit of time on my hands, so I'll be happy to give it a try with anyone who is interested. 73 from Antarctica, Felix, DP1POL (Home Call DL5XL). |

Courtesy of Felix DL5XL you can see some pictures from Antarctica. Worked Felix as a DP1POL 25th of August during very low Moon and very bad WX in Antarctica JT65C - RX -18dB / and RXing on Felix site -23dB. Thanks for new DXCC #63 and hope to work Felix soon also on CW. |

27/08/2009 - Hello, I received a lot of replies to my previous
messages to the reflector, and I would like to thank everyone who showed
interest in my 23cm EME operation from Antarctica. So far, I have been
able to work DF3RU, DJ9YW, ES5PC, ES6RQ, G4CBW, G4CCH, K2UYH, LZ1DX,
OE9ERC, OK1DFC, OK1KIR, PA3CSG, RD3DA, and W5LUA on JT65c, plus one
contact with OE9ERC on CW. The 1296 MHz station will be set up for
at least two more months, and I am still very interested in trying to work
other stations. So if you think you have a chance of copying my weak
signal off the moon, please let me know and I will be happy to arrange a
sked. I am running approximately 500 Watts of power into a single 19,9 dBD
gain Yagi (SHF 2367). My location is Neumayer Station, Antarctica, Grid
Locator IB59uh. 73 from Antarctica, Felix, DP1POL (also DL5XL, QSL via DL1ZBO). PS: I am sorry I do not have equipment for 144 MHz or 432 MHz. |
